Naphthol-AS-BI-phosphat ist ein Substrat der alkalischen und der sauren Phosphatase. Durch Hydrolyse eines Phosphates wird aus dem nichtfluoreszierenden Naphthol-AS-BI-phosphat das fluoreszierende Naphthol-AS-BI.
